## What Are Intraocular Lenses?
Artificial lenses placed in the eye in place of the natural lens when it can no longer do its job, usually because of cataract. Besides removing cataract, they correct refractive errors such as myopia, farsightedness and astigmatism, reducing or sometimes ending dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Success depends on choosing the right lens and on the surgeon's experience.

## Lens Types
- **Single-focus lenses:** one focal distance.
