> **Summary:** Neurovision is a non-invasive, non-surgical and drug-free computer-based visual perception training that stimulates the brain's visual pathways. It can help improve vision in patients aged 10 to 55 with amblyopia (lazy eye); most of the programme is done at home and results vary from person to person.

## Quick Facts
- **Age range:** 10 to 55
- **Sessions:** approximately 40, each about 30 to 40 minutes
- **Frequency:** 3 days a week, with one day in between
- **Results:** usually seen within 3 - 4 months
- **Check-ups:** after the 5th, 10th, 20th and 40th sessions
- **Side effects:** rare, very low risk

## What It Is
Neurovision (neurorehabilitation therapy) is based on research into how the brain processes visual information and aims to optimise the neural performance of the visual system. It is an interactive programme run on an internet-connected personal computer at home or in a clinic.

## Who It Suits
Suitability is decided after a detailed examination. Considered suitable:
- Aged between 10 and 55
- Corrected visual acuity in the lazy eye roughly between 0.1 and 0.6 (about 20/200 to 20/30)
- Deviation of less than 8 prism dioptres
- No other eye condition that limits vision

---

## The Treatment Journey

### Before Treatment
- Detailed examination to confirm suitability.

### During Treatment
- The first session is carried out by the physician at the hospital; the rest is done at home or a suitable work setting via the computer programme.
- After 1-2 sessions the programme determines the vision level and creates a personalised plan after each session.
- Sessions must be regular: 30-40 minutes, 3 days a week, one day apart.

### After Treatment
- At check-ups after the 5th, 10th, 20th and 40th sessions, the doctor enters visual acuity and contrast sensitivity to track progress.

## Computerised Vision Therapy at Home (AmbP iNet)
- Used in children aged four to nine to complement individual lazy eye treatment.
- Encourages hand-eye coordination and improves visual acuity by making the amblyopic eye work, with varied activities to keep interest.
- Starts at a level set by the ophthalmologist and automatically advances as vision improves.
- Research supported by the US National Institute of Health/National Eye Institute reaffirms that the correct treatment may be occlusion and/or drops.
