Specialist Dr. Nevin Keskinorak

Specialist Dr. Nevin Keskinorak has worked as an anaesthesiology and reanimation specialist at Kudret Eye İstanbul since 2024. She graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1988.

Training

After completing her compulsory service at the Ordu Mother and Child Health Centre, she began her specialist training in anaesthesiology and reanimation at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in 1990 and completed it with a thesis on anaesthesia in spinal surgery.

Experience

In 1995 she joined Kartal Yavuz Selim State Hospital as an anaesthesiology and reanimation specialist. Over nineteen years there she gave anaesthesia to more than 90,000 patients, above all in neurosurgery, gynaecology and obstetrics, and orthopaedic surgery, and worked actively in the reanimation unit opened in 2001.

After retiring from public service in 2014 she worked as an anaesthesiology and reanimation specialist at Kadıköy Florence Nightingale Hospital. She joined Kudret Eye İstanbul in 2024, where she continues her professional work.

Anaesthesia in eye surgery

Most eye operations are performed under local or topical anaesthesia while the patient is awake and pain-free; sedation or general anaesthesia is preferred for children, longer operations and very anxious patients. Before surgery Dr. Keskinorak reviews the patient's general health, medication and allergies and plans the most suitable anaesthesia together with the surgeon; she monitors vital signs throughout the operation and follows the recovery afterwards.
