Surgical intervention for cataract treatment is performed by a specialist doctor in the operating theatre environment. After sterile conditions are provided, cataract is intervened with the help of an operating microscope. The duration of the operation varies according to both the hardness of the cataract and the characteristics of the lens to be used. On average, the operation takes about 15-20 minutes per eye.
The operation is performed under topical anaesthesia, with anaesthetic eye drops; light sedation can be given if needed. Anaesthesia numbs the eye. This helps the patient not to feel any pain. However, it may be possible to feel small touches. At the same time, both pulse and blood pressure controls of the patient are monitored regularly during the operation. The only way to cure cataract disease is surgery. Delaying the surgery causes the cataract to harden and increase the risk of complications.

Excessive exposure to the sun, eye traumas, advancing age, exposure to toxic chemicals are among the most important causes. In addition to these, intensive cortisone medications and changes in body metabolism can also cause cataract formation. The most important treatment of this problem is surgery.
Monofocal Toric Lens: Monofocal Toric Lenses are lenses with a single focal point that help to eliminate astigmatism. These lenses are used by replacing the natural lens of people with cataracts during cataract surgery. Astigmatism is a disorder that causes blurred vision due to irregular cornea or lens curvature in the eye. With these lenses, the irregular curvature is corrected and a clear vision is provided. Monofocal toric lenses provide the wearer with the focus to see only distant objects. Therefore, the patient may need to use an additional visual aid (near glasses) to see nearby objects.
Phaco surgery is one of the most commonly used methods in the treatment of cataract. Some cataract types may have different features than the standard eye. In such cases, phaco surgery is utilised. Treatment of the disease can be realised by using additional instruments and methods.
For example, iris hooks should be used in patients whose pupil is not very enlarged. Additional tools may be required to enlarge the pupil. Therefore, it is not possible to talk about a standard application for every cataract patient. Failure to enlarge the pupil in people with diabetes is among the common conditions. In addition to these, uveitis patients who develop adhesions in the eye can be shown in the risk group.
The most important feature of phaco surgery is the use of small incisions. Phaco cataract surgery is performed under anaesthetic eye drops and no sutures are used. Since cataract surgery is an application requiring microsurgery, the experience of the physician is of great importance at this stage.
With this surgery, the lens in the eye is completely cleaned and the new lens is placed in the posterior capsule sac left in its place. Antibiotics are applied into the eye. After this process, the surgical procedure is terminated. In case of need for cataract surgery, it is extremely important to seek treatment from specialist doctors.
Cataract is an eye condition that occurs when the quality of vision deteriorates as a result of the loss of transparency of the lens of the eye. The most common types of cataract include nuclear sclerotic, cortical and posterior subcapsular cataract. Nuclear sclerotic cataract develops mostly due to age and causes hardening in the centre of the lens. Cortical cataract is characterised by areas of opacification extending from the outer edges of the lens towards the inner part. Posterior subcapsular cataract forms small but rapidly progressive foci of clouding at the back of the lens and can often occur at a young age. No eye drop can stop or reverse cataract; the only treatment is surgery, and with timely diagnosis and surgery the quality of vision can be restored.
Cataract does not come back: during the operation the clouded natural lens is removed and a new lens is placed inside the capsule (a thin membrane). However, months or years later a membrane can form behind the lens (posterior capsule opacification). This membrane can be cleared with a YAG laser in 1-2 minutes, and vision becomes clear again.
After cataract treatment, if the patient does not have a different eye disease, the degree of vision of the eye will increase. The distance of clear vision also varies according to the type of lens recommended by the doctor and selected by the patient. Monofocal lenses are preferred for clear vision at long distances. However, if clear vision is desired at medium and close distances as well as long distances, trifocal multifocal lenses are preferred.
After the surgery, the patient has to use the drops given by the doctor. After surgery the eye is covered with a bandage, which is removed the next morning, when the surgeon examines the eye again. However, drops are used after the doctor deems appropriate. It is sufficient to use the drops during the time the patient is awake. If more than one drop is prescribed by the doctor, each of them should be used at 5 minute intervals. The eye should not be touched by hand while instilling the drops. Contact with water should be avoided. In addition, if excess drops run onto your cheek, you can remove them with a gentle movement. However, you should avoid rubbing the eye.

Hello, so I went to Optical Express in UK but they quoted me an insanely high price for LASIK Surgery. After conducting research on multiple different hospitals and eye surgery places in Turkey. I settled on Kudret Goz. Throughout the entire period they were helpful in answering all my questions and very supportive. They have very experienced doctors who perform LASIK surgery multiple times a day for 20 years plus using the latest Johnson and Johnson technology. As soon as I landed at the airport they picked me up, dropped me at the hospital where I had my own comfortable room. They provided breakfast, lunch and dinner. In the morning they conducted tests to check my vision and if I’m feasible for the surgery, the same evening the surgery happened. I was nervous but It lasted 5 - 10 minutes and rested in my room that evening taking eye drops and disinfect eye drops every hour. The next day I woke up and my vision had become incredibly better, with every passing hour it got better and better. Within 24 hours my vision was incredibly clear and I was amazed. I have just returned from having Lens transplantation at Kudret Eye Hospital Istanbul. I was a lone traveller who was terrified at the prospect of eye surgery even having done my research. I have to say ALL the staff at Kudret were absolutely amazing. From 1st contacting them the communication was excellent no question was too much and always received a very prompt response. I was met at the airport in the middle of the night and taken straight to the hospital, was shown to my room. I felt very safe. I had numerous test the following day and then a consultation with the Doctor who advised me of my best implants. There was always someone with me who was able to translate anything said. I had my 1st op that afternoon again I felt safe and very confident with the professionalism of all the staff. Surgery took approximately 20 mins. I had no pain and the next day was able to see near intermediate and distance although not 100% but without glasses. After further checks I then went in for my second surgery. Again all went smoothly. The following day sight had improved even more in my 1st eye and then on removal of my eye patch my 2nd eye sight was great. I am thrilled to be glasses free and my vision improves every day. I was told it can take between 1 -3 weeks for the full result. I was given eye drops for home and full care instructions. The doctor that I was assigned was Dr Nail Sönmez, who was very experienced and conducted a very effective iLASIK surgery, which only lasted about 10-15 minutes, and led to a significant improvement in my vision. He was also very transparent about the associated risks involved after the operation and advised how those could be mitigated after the surgery. Although the doctor and Cem spoke English, I was also assigned a translator, Zuhal, who was very friendly and helped me communicate with other hospital staff when needed. My wife and I both had lens replacement here due to both having cataracts. I have to say from start to finish the whole experience was excellent. Careing helpful staff took care of all our needs and queries. Experienced expert surgeon did the operations on both eyes which only takes around 10 to 15 minutes and is completely painless. Excellent aftercare after the operations. Excellent value especially compared to the UK. For the two of us we paid plot less than one operation would cost in the UK. In particular I would like to thank Gem and Zuhan, both of whom speak English, for their care and attention also i would like to thank Dr Mehmet for his expertise. My sister and I recently traveled from London to Istanbul for laser eye operations, and I cannot rave enough about the exceptional care we received at Kudret Göz. As someone who doesn't write reviews, I feel that this is an important opportunity to reach out to others. I was full of doubts , insecurity and skepticism about this procedure. I bought into all the negatives and downsides of lens replacement surgery , Whilst doing my research . After speaking to Jem , who put no pressure on me to sell me this . I trusted and respected him . There are many places in Turkey ( Medical tourism). , who are pushy , and run clinics offering , Hair , teeth , eyes ect. Kudret goz is a eye hospital that specializes in just eyes. I did arrive nervous, But saw how professional they are. The staff were super and so friendly, From the cleaners , security, receptionists and doctors . The place was spotless and I was comfortable, even 3 hospital meals per day. I'm amazed that my results are immediate. I can see perfectly 20/20 vision both eyes . No halos . Minimal irritation in eyes after op for an hour or 2. I'm amazed at how easy it is . I flew back to Bristol and drove back to South wales late at night . And my eyes at night were spot on . I'm delighted to not be wearing glasses anymore. Which Is given me freedom and a new confidence. I ride motorbikes and can't wait to get out on the bike 🏍. Looking forward to snooker , swimming and playing football. No glasses . A translator on hand from the moment I arrived until I left The preparation and tests pror to the Yag laser procedure, faultless. Clear information given on each part if the process. The procedure was painless, and no ill effects and I could see clearly about 30 minutes after the procedure. I cannot recommend them enough .
